Rahat is helping over One Thousand students, enabling them to take care of themselves and to live a life of Dignity and Self Respect. These are the role models who have shown that a better world is possible. These are the shining stars who have enriched our efforts and have given an abiding meaning to our work. And we say this with great responsibility: only Rahat would have picked up these Rahat children, majority of whom are orphans, whose stories we have narrated below. All names have been changed to protect the identity and dignity of the students involved.

Behrampada, Bandra East, Mumbai.  What can you say about a girl who is just 21 years old and works eight hours a day  to   support her family of seven members!  Rizwana stays in the Behramnagar slums, in Bandra East, studied in an Urdu Medium School, got her Bachelor's Degree in Mass Media, working part-time to support her own studies and her family. What we can say? Well-done!!! And stand up and applaud. Rizwana is a typical shining star of Rahat...
Nala Sopara, Extended Suburbs, Mumbai. Asif has just moved to his ownership flat in Nala Sopara, with his wife and three year son. Asif is an Insurance Advisor.. and has done well for himself.. When we first met Asif.. he was about to be rusticated from his English Medium School in Bandra East. He was then studying  in  the 9th standard.  We intervened. In fact this was one of our  first affirmative action. For a boy from one of the sleaziest  slums of Mumbai, Golibar, to have reached standard 9th was a miracle by itself. A first generation learner, with illiterate parents, we saw a spark in that boy. And Asif did not let us down. He passed  that 9th standard exams and did not fail even once on his way to obtaining his B. Com Degree of Mumbai University.  He worked hard, supported his family and became an insurance advisor on his own. Asif now does Rahat's field work and is proud to do so. A classic Rahat Scholar!!

Juhu Gully, Andheri. 1992. Rahat had just started its work, when a young girl, with a big dream approached Rahat through a neighbor, she said, "I want to become a doctor". Zarina had just passed her 12th science exams and had scored 84% marks in her PCB, the then criteria for admission to an MBBS Degree College. Zarina underwent a tortuous period involving her admission process.. and one day her seat to a private, but recognized,  MBBS college was confirmed. Rahat was involved in facilitating this process all the way. It was indeed a fine day when we handed over the draft to the Secretary of the College. Dr Zarina in the meanwhile got married, is a mother, has  worked abroad, and one day visited our Working Centre at Bharat Nagar, Bandra East.. and wrote out a cheque of Rs 90,000/-. Today she has a thriving medical practice in Mumbai, has bought her ownership flat and is a regular Donor of Rahat!!!!  Awesome!!!!

Bharat Nagar, Bandra East, 2002. "Hello, my name is Zainab. I have just appeared for my final year BA Exams. In 2002 my parents died. I was in the 7th standard in a Municipal school. I was admitted to Shaheen Urdu High School in the 8th standard... Obviously my financial condition was very bad. It was hand-to-mouth struggle for survival. We are a family of seven  and we were not sure whether there would be food for us... every day.  At Shaheen, Rahat adopted me under TESS, guided me, encouraged me. And from 8th to 15th it was Rahat all the wayRahat not only supported me in my studies, it supported everyone in my family. Thank you, Rahat". {Zainab, a B A Graduate,  got married this year . We were there to congratulate her and her siblings. She had also done a part-time job to support her family and her studies).
